Running with friends on the long run

Sunday marathon plan sessions in Effort 2, is it a problem ?

"I am planning to follow your plan, but every Sunday I am running a long run (2:30) with my friends. They are a little bit better than me so I am running in effort 2. Is it a big problem that I run them in effort 2 instead of effort 1?"

Answer: This should be ok for the first part of the cycle. What is important though is from week 7 to 13 in the marathon specific parts. In these weeks I suggest that you stick to your personal effort 1 to not overrun in these marathon specific weeks !
