"When starting out on an effort 4 run should I drive my heart rate to the zone then maintain or let it come up gradually?
Answer: Hi Him and thanks for your question.
You want to drive it up there to the lower end of the zone as immediate as possible. So a shift in pace if you can. Then you can stay in that zone (which means that you usually will increase the heart rate within that zone naturally within the interval as you go along), for the rest of the interval, before going right down again when you switch again to a lower zone.
