Missed running sessions due to travel

Training with the plan after interruptions :

"Will have a 2 to 3 week interruption due to travel that starts at the end of week 8. As have plenty of time before the marathon date my plan was to start back in at week 9 as will be able to some lite runnning during the travel. However this approach appears to differ with the answers to dealing with interruptions due to injury. So the question is since have adequate time what approach would ou recommend?"

Answer: Hi Dave and thanks for your question.

Since you have plenty of time left I would suggest your approach : to step back where you left after the 2-3 weeks.

In the case of injuries, the approach is different as you often need some buildup time before going into the schedule again - and the same if you are pushed for time leading up to the marathon (in those cases I suggest just skipping the missed weeks)

When you travel, do remember to do 1) some very long runs to keep the muscles used to that 2)the 45 sec running / 15 sec recovery runs to keep your endurance. If you do some of these you can cut down on the total running sessions etc in those weeks.

I wish you all the best,
kind regards,
